Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Letters on Applied and Pure Mathematics is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all forms of publication malpractice seriously. The journal publishes original research that has neither been submitted elsewhere for publication nor published previously. When ethical concerns arise, the journal will investigate and take appropriate actions in line with good editorial practice.

Ethical Violations

  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized material from other works, whether published or unpublished.
  • Duplicate / Multiple Submissions: Manuscripts submitted to, or published in, another venue. If authors build upon their own previously submitted or published work, they must cite that work and clearly explain the novel contributions beyond earlier results.
  • Citation Manipulation: Citations included primarily to inflate citations to a particular author or journal, rather than to acknowledge relevant prior work.
  • Data Fabrication and Falsification: Fabrication or falsification of results, including improper manipulation of images, figures, or data.
  • Improper Authorship / Contribution:
    • All listed authors must have made a meaningful scientific contribution to the work.
    • Individuals who made a meaningful contribution should be appropriately credited as authors or acknowledged in accordance with authorship standards.
  • Redundant Publication: Inappropriate division of the outcomes of a single study into multiple articles (also known as “salami” publication).

Sanctions and Editorial Actions

If violations of the above policies are confirmed, one or more of the following actions may be taken:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
  • Rejection of other manuscript(s) submitted by any of the authors of the infringing manuscript.
  • Temporary prohibition of new submissions by the authors for a minimum of 36 months.
  • Removal or prohibition of the authors from serving on the journal’s Editorial Board.
  • Where appropriate, notification of the authors’ institutions, funders, or other relevant bodies, and publication of corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.

These actions may be applied even if the violations occurred in another journal. In cases where misconduct is deemed especially severe, the journal reserves the right to impose additional measures beyond those listed above.
