Ethical Guidelines and Publication Policies
Ethical Guidelines and Publication Policies
Letters on Applied and Pure Mathematics is committed to upholding high standards of publication ethics and to preventing publication malpractice. The journal publishes original research that has neither been submitted elsewhere nor published previously. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the following ethical guidelines and policies.
1. Originality and Redundant Publication
- Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Redundant publication (including inappropriate fragmentation of results into multiple papers) is not permitted.
- If a submission builds on the authors’ prior work (published or unpublished), the prior work must be cited and the novel contributions must be clearly stated.
2. Plagiarism and Proper Attribution
- Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.
- All sources must be properly cited, including text, ideas, data, figures, and methods originating from other works.
3. Citation Practices
- Citations must be included for scholarly relevance, not for the purpose of artificially increasing citations to a particular author, institution, or journal.
- Authors should cite relevant prior work, especially when the submission is a continuation or extension of earlier studies.
4. Data Integrity, Fabrication, and Falsification
- Authors must ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data and results reported in the manuscript.
- Data fabrication, data falsification, and inappropriate manipulation of figures or images are strictly prohibited.
- Where applicable, authors should be prepared to provide supporting data or methodological details for editorial review.
5. Authorship and Acknowledgements
- All listed authors must have made a meaningful scientific contribution to the work.
- The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
- Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged (e.g., technical assistance, language editing, administrative support).
6. Conflicts of Interest
- Authors should disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could be perceived to influence the work.
- Editors and reviewers must declare conflicts of interest and, when necessary, recuse themselves from the review process.
7. Peer Review and Confidentiality
- Manuscripts are evaluated through a peer-review process.
- Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and must not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
8. Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Actions
- If significant errors or ethical issues are discovered before or after publication, the journal may publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, as appropriate.
- The journal reserves the right to investigate suspected misconduct and to take necessary editorial actions.
9. Sanctions for Misconduct
If violations of these policies are confirmed, one or more of the following actions may be taken:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
- Rejection of other manuscript(s) submitted by any of the authors involved.
- Temporary prohibition of new submissions by the authors for a defined period.
- Notification of relevant institutions or other appropriate bodies where warranted.
- Publication of corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, as appropriate.
In cases of serious or repeated misconduct, the journal may impose additional measures beyond those listed above to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
