1) What is Crossmark?

Letters on Applied and Pure Mathematics participates in Crossmark (a Crossref service) to help readers verify the current status of a scholarly document and to access any post-publication updates (if they exist).

When a Crossmark button (“Check for updates”) appears on an article landing page or within the PDF, clicking it will display whether the document is current or has updates.

2) Scope of this policy

This policy applies to journal content assigned a DOI by the publisher, including (where applicable):

  • Research articles
  • Review articles
  • Short communications / notes
  • Editorial content (if DOI-assigned)

3) Editorial policies and publishing ethics

The journal is committed to maintaining high standards of editorial quality and publication ethics. Please see the following policies:

  • Peer review policy: [add link]
  • Publication ethics / malpractice statement: [add link]

4) Post-publication changes: what may happen?

After publication, issues may be identified that require actions such as:

4.1 Minor changes (no formal update notice)

Small changes that do not affect the scientific meaning (e.g., minor typographical issues, formatting corrections) may be corrected without issuing a formal update notice.

4.2 Formal updates (tracked via Crossmark)

When changes are substantive or need a formal record, the journal may publish an update, such as:

  • Correction / Erratum / Corrigendum: Corrects errors that may affect interpretation, but not the overall validity of the work.
  • Addendum / Clarification: Adds important information or clarifies aspects of the published record.
  • Expression of Concern: Issued when serious concerns are under investigation.
  • Retraction (full or partial): Issued when findings are unreliable or ethical issues are confirmed.
  • Withdrawal / Removal: Rare cases (e.g., legal issues). The journal will preserve the scholarly record to the extent possible.

5) How updates are presented

  1. The journal may publish an update notice (e.g., correction or retraction notice), preferably with its own DOI.
  2. The update notice will clearly link to the original article, and the original article will link back to the notice (where applicable).
  3. Crossref metadata will be updated so Crossmark displays the correct status.

6) What happens to the original article after an update?

  • Corrections/Addenda/Clarifications: The original article remains available; a clear notice and links to the update are provided.
  • Retractions: The original article generally remains available to preserve the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as retracted and linked to the retraction notice.
  • Removal/Withdrawal: In exceptional cases, content access may be restricted, but the bibliographic record and status information will be maintained whenever possible.

7) Reporting errors or concerns

If you believe an article contains an error or raises ethical concerns, please contact:

Email: contact@lapmjournal.com
Please include the article title, DOI, and a clear description of the issue (with evidence where possible).

8) Crossmark button usage

The Crossmark button is displayed near the article title (on the web page and/or within the PDF). The button may be resized for layout purposes, but the Crossmark branding and design should not be altered.
